Household Hazardous Waste

Households contain many products which can be hazardous to the health of humans, animals, and the environment. Unused and leftover portions of these products are called household hazardous waste (HHW). Collection centers are located in Fayetteville, Prairie Grove, Springdale, Huntsville, and St. Paul.

Program Guidelines:

• Only residential quantities of HHW are accepted
• No explosives
• All items must be labeled. No unknown chemicals will be accepted

  • Latex paint is accepted. Our self-service latex station is free of charge or you can drop off latex for $2 per gallon.

  • You can also dispose of latex paint at home by following these guidelines:

  • If there is a small amount of paint remaining, remove the lid and allow the paint to dry. Place hardened paint in trash can.

  • If there is more paint, add an absorbent material such as kitty litter or sawdust to speed up the drying process. Allow the mixture to sit at least one hour or until it has dried. Place the paint in the trash can.
